FMS is designed to be a movement competency tool to aid primary prevention and compliment your typical assessable risk factors for all other body systems (think routine teeth cleaning to prevent cavities). The FMS is used to identify and describe movement competency (or lack of) and determine if it needs to be further investigated.

If, and only if, you have competency should you initiate capacity and performance.

This is a more sensitive assessment of movement health for those individuals with pain, structural change, neurological insult, acute/chronic, or permanent limitation. The goal is to return from injury and pain to movement competency and ultimately to your goals! 

Everyone's fitness and wellness goals are unique, shaped by their personal experiences, lifestyles, and aspirations. For some, success means returning to the sports and activities they love, regaining strength and confidence in their movements. For others, it’s about reclaiming the ability to enjoy time with family, engage in hobbies, or simply move through daily life without pain or limitation.
